Eligibility requirements

- You are currently student at :

  • USP São Paulo: Escola Politécnica and Science Faculties
  • USP São Carlos: Science and Engineering Faculties
  • USP Piracicaba: ESALQ
  • USP Pirassununga: FZEA
  • UNICAMP: Science and Engineering faculties
  • UFRGS (Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul)
  • UFRJ: Escola Politécnica and Science Faculties
  • PUC Rio de Janeiro
 

 - For admission into the two-year Master’s programme at Agro ParisTech, Chimie ParisTech, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (only for students from USP Escola Politécnica), ENSAE ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech, ESPCI ParisTech, Institut d’Optique Graduate School, Mines ParisTech or Telecom ParisTech, you are required to have successfully completed at least 7 semesters of a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering at your home university by September 2011.

For admission into the three-year Master’s programme at Ecole Polytechnique, you are required to have successfully completed 4 to 6 semesters of a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering at your home university by January 2011.

-You should register with the international office of your home university to participate in the programme.

- You should have good working knowledge of English or French.

How to apply ?

1 - Contact the International Office of your home university which will implement the pre-selection of applicants and support the selection procedure.

2 - SSubmit your online application to ParisTech: https://admissions.paristech.fr/BRA/
Students wishing to apply to Ecole Polytechnique MUST also complete the Ecole Polytechnique online application on www.polytechnique.edu

The deadline for both applications is 1st October 2010..

  • An identity photo
  • Transcripts of records in English
  • Copy of passport or other identification document
  • A statement of purpose outlining your intended career project after completion of term of study at ParisTech and award of qualification

Selection procedure

If you are eligible for admission, you will be asked to sit a written test in science in Brazil in October 2010.
You may choose to take the test in English or in French.

Calendar for 2009
The tests will take place from 13th to 19th October 2010 at the following locations. For the exact times, please contact the persons listed below:

* Selection of students at PUC Rio applying to Telecom ParisTech will be based on their application file and on an interview that will take place at PUC Rio on 19th October. Applicants for other ParisTech schools will have to sit the written test at UFRJ on 18th October and follow the selection procedure described below.

Applicants who obtain the required standard on the test will be interviewed shortly after the test to determine their motivation and discuss their plans for study at ParisTech.

Documents required for interview:

  • An original transcript of your records translated in English and certified by your University
  • Maximum 3 certificates in English of your most important Academic  achievements and awards
  • Results of French (TCF) or English (Cambridge, TOEFL, GRE, etc.) language tests(if taken)
  • Original passport or identification document you uploaded for your application

Then the finalization of the selection process will be conducted according to the working practices of each ParisTech School (see more details).

Applicants for Ecole Polytechnique and MINES ParisTech will be asked to take oral examinations in Mathematics, Physics and general Science before the end of November 2010 with an examiner or by video conference.

For USP-EP students applying to Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, the selection procedure will be based on preselection by the home university plus examination of the student's application file (N.B. only USP-EP students can apply).

By mid-December you will be informed of the outcome of your application and to which ParisTech schools you have been admitted. If you are not fluent in French, you will be required to start learning French immediately.

Costs and funding

Students admitted will benefit from a tuition waiver (up to €18,000 a year) for the duration of their stay at their host ParisTech School. Students will have to fund their travel costs to and from France and their living costs for the duration of their study (approximately €8,000 a year). Additional Scholarships covering these costs may be awarded to outstanding students by the French or Brazilian authorities, by industrial sponsors and by the foundations of ParisTech schools.
