SJTU-ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) was established through the strategic alliance of Paris Tech and SJTU. An elite engineering education programme, based on the French Grande École model, is offered to selected students.
Four founding member Grandes Écoles of ParisTech (École Polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, MINES ParisTech and Telecom ParisTech) ensure the quality, the high requirements and the rigour of the course.
On April 26th 2013, Mr. François Hollande, the French President, inaugurated SPEIT.
An elite education
The whole educational programme is 6 years, and consists of two stages.
The initial stage, which is supervised by experienced French professors, combines the requirement of the scientific background for engineering schools and the international ambition of a multidisciplinary education.
The engineering stage is carried out in close collaboration between the four schools and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and will enable students to become engineers with French education.
Methodology, rigour, initiative and creativity are at the core of our education objectives.
After fulfilling all the requirements of SPEIT, students will obtain a Bachelor Degree from SJTU (4 years), as well as the SJTU Master’s Degree, and the engineering diploma awarded by ParisTech.
Some students will even have the opportunity to apply for a double degree from one of the four schools (École Polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, MINES ParisTech and Telecom ParisTech).
Three majors are proposed:
- Information and Communication Technology
- Mechanical engineering
- Power and energy
Innovation-oriented education and strong links with companies
Internships in companies are an important part of the programme. They will be placed in the industrial world and deal with the reality of working life.
Companies play an important role in the education programme of SPEIT. They are involved in the education process as well as the scientific one, and they also participate in decision-making.
SPEIT provides education in an international dimension. Students are provided with a trilingual education: French, English and Chinese. SPEIT will also receive international students from all over the world and exchange students from ParisTech Grandes Écoles.
“SPEIT makes its objective to train trilingual elite engineers with technical skills, who are adapted to innovation and management, and who know how to work in an international environment.”
