Ongoing programmes and actions
ParisTech is engaged in China in a large-scale programme for training engineers, organised via two overlapping partnerships:
- The 50 Engineers programme
- The Franco-Chinese Institute of Engineering and Management (IFCIM)
The 50 Engineers programme - p50i
Known in China under the name “Programme 9+9”. Launched in 2000, this programme opened the way for study programmes leading to dual diplomas, Masters and doctorates. ParisTech works in association with nine of the principal Chinese universities through framework partnership agreements:
- In Beijing : Tsinghua University, Peking University, China Agricultural University;
- In Shanghai : Tongji University ( http://www.tongji.edu.cn), Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University;
- In Nanjing : Nanjing University, SouthEast University,Nanjing Agricultural University.
A hundred Chinese students with a Bachelor’s degree are admitted annually via this programme.
The Franco-Chinese Institute of Engineering and Management (IFCIM)
Founded in 1998 by l'École des Ponts ParisTech and ParisTech with Tongji University, this institute is housed in the Franco-Chinese Centre of Tongji University. It hosts the Chinese branch of the MBA of l'École des Ponts ParisTech (SIMBA), as well as 6 Pro Masters and two Specialised Masters of ParisTech. These Franco-Chinese courses receive a hundred students each year for the MBA, and a dozen students for each of the Masters. The IFCIM benefits from the support of major French and Chinese companies.
In parallel to these study programmes for Chinese students, ParisTech has set up an exchange programme dedicated to the training of Chinese-speaking French engineers. Twenty students from ParisTech enter this programme each year and go to China to obtain a Chinese M.Sc. in the partner universities of ParisTech.
A China Office of ParisTech dedicated exclusively to these actions has operated in Shanghai since 2004.
Various scholarship schemes support all these programmes:
- scholarships from the China Scholarship Council,
- Eiffel scholarships,
- scholarships from industrial firms,
- scholarships from the ParisTech schools.
The graduate students obtain career openings in international companies or in the higher education and research sectors.
