Through multidisciplinary training, MINES ParisTech trains general engineers, that is, engineers capable of resolving real, complex problems and carrying out industrial projects, of dealing with all technical and scientific, sociological, economic and ethical aspects.

The range of the subjects dealt with in the laboratories is a very vast one, from applied mathematics to social sciences, energy, earth sciences and materials.

This vast spectrum of research means that crossdisciplinary subjects can be covered including several laboratories: the environment, the internet, risks, etc. A large element of training covers economic and social sciences thanks to globally renowned research centres, as evidenced by the Nobel Prize in Economics awarded in 1988 to Maurice Allais, former student and lecturer at the school.
