Apprenticeship tax
Where it comes from
All companies paying corporate tax on industrial or commercial earnings and with one or more employees pay taxe d'apprentissage to finance training in technology and other professional fields.
They pay it into OCTAs according to a proportional factor and tax-sharing system.
Where it goes
Taxe d’apprentissage is a key financial resource for ParisTech colleges. It provides the autonomy they need to focus on the long term, shapes development strategy rollout and funds investment in specific projects, namely:
- Teaching aids (language-learning tools, lab equipment, technology platforms, etc.)
- Academic and research strategic development (courses for professors, support developing teaching aids)
- Corporate relations (tutoring, site visits, internships, etc.)
- Communication (conventions, trade shows, brochures, etc.)
Companies are free to allocate the tax they pay to one or more colleges.
The process
Companies choose an OCTA to collect their tax, and list the college(s) they wants their money to go to on the payment form. They can also pay certain colleges directly (AgroParisTech, for instance, has its own apprenticeship centre).
