Business oriented research
ParisTech’s research activity covers the full range from the most fundamental scientific questions to the development of applied research. Consequently, ParisTech is heavily involved in joint research, accounting for more than one third of joint research in France. In 2010, ParisTech has nearly 2900 research contracts with companies and more than 50 teaching and research chairs. Moreover, the heavy involvement of ParisTech laboratories in the Carnot Institutes is recognised. Likewise, ParisTech is involved in numerous innovation and competitiveness clusters (more than 20 in all). ParisTech and its schools actively create and support young companies born out of the schools’ research. Consequently, ParisTech is one of the founding members, along with the University Pierre and Marie Curie, of the Agoranov incubator, a generalist Parisian incubator, and several ParisTech schools are members of the Incuballiance in Saclay. Moreover, several ParisTech schools have their own specialised incubators: Telecom ParisTech entrepreneurs, created 10 years ago, which has supported more than 200 projects, HEC incubator, Polystart with École des Ponts ParisTech, X-pépinières …
Scientific production
More than 3000 scientific publications are published every year in ParisTech schools as a whole. The HAL ParisTech open archive provides visibility for these publications.
Awards and honours
This research is high-quality research. Today it is a major component in ParisTech’s international visibility. It has been recognised through numerous awards. In 2009, it was honoured with three Grand Prizes from the Academy of Science, an appointment to the Academy of Science, two Bronze medals from the CNRS, two appointments to the Collège de France, an appointment to the Institut Universitaire de France and 17 awards from prestigious Scientific Societies.
