All latest news on ParisTech in China: a new university partner up with us, agreements with the China Scholarship Council and Tsinghua University are renewed

ParisTech has been cooperating with major Chinese universities such as Tsinghua for more than 20 years, successfully recruiting Chinese students for its schools’ engineering degrees, with the support of the China Scholarship Council (CSC) since 2015. ParisTech already counts 12 partner universities in China, and now expands its network to the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).

ParisTech and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have renewed their agreement on the funding of engineering degrees scholarships for five years. Signed in 2015, the agreement allows about fifty Chinese students entering the Msc in Engineering (diplôme d’ingénieur) of ParisTech schools to benefit from scholarships covering 18 to 24 months of study in France. These students are recruited through ParisTech International Admission Program (known as the "9 + 9 program" in China), or through double degrees agreements between ParisTech schools and their Chinese partners. Students recruited in the fall of 2020 will therefore be able to apply to this scholarship program, to benefit from its funding when they arrive in France at the start of the 2021 academic year. The ParisTech schools, and other French engineering schools under the agreement signed by ParisTech, benefited from 46 scholarships in 2020. ParisTech schools also profit from another agreement with the CSC at doctoral level.

ParisTech delighted as well to have renewed its framework agreement with Tsinghua University. First Chinese university in international rankings, member of the C9 league, part of the 985 and 211 excellence programs, Tsinghua is a strategic partner for several ParisTech schools, including Ecole des Ponts ParisTech (double degree agreement with Tsinghua), or MINES ParisTech - PSL (advanced masters in partnership with Tsinghua: MS ENVIMMS ALEF).

ParisTech now counts a new Chinese university among its partners: the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). The framework agreement, signed in September 2020, will allow the development of partnerships in training and research. 73rd in the Shanghai ranking, 87th in the ranking, 93rd for QS, USTC is one of the best Chinese universities. USTC is particularly well-known worldwide for its training and research in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. Located in Anhui Province, Hefei, USTC was founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1958. From its inception, USTC has focused on training leaders in science and technology, by combining research and education, and putting emphasis on quality over quantity. USTC and ParisTech schools share strong common values: excellence, interdisciplinarity, support for innovation and research. Future cooperation will be built on these values.

Our schools are also strengthening their presence in China. AgroParisTech and Tongji University in Shanghai recently signed a double degree agreement in environmental management and engineering, under cover of the MoU signed in 2003 by ParisTech and Tongji. Likewise, MINES ParisTech - PSL just signed a cooperation agreement with the mathematics department of Zhejiang University (covering student, teacher and researcher mobility, implementing a double degree at master level, and promoting cooperation in research). Tongji students coming to AgroParisTech and those from Zhejiang University coming to MINES ParisTech - PSL, if they are selected within the framework of these programs, will thus be able to obtain both the master's degree from their home university and the “diplôme d’ingénieur” (Msc in Engineering) from the host French school.
