The French-Sino Institute BUCT-Paris Curie Engineering School, also called ‘Chimie Pékin’ is a higher education institution for engineers in chemistry, resulting from a partnership between the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) and a consortium of French Graduate Schools of Chemistry, members of the French  Fédération Gay-Lussac (FGL), represented by Chimie ParisTech.

Chimie Pékin has started in September 2017 at BUCT in Beijing, and especially on its campus at Changping. Chimie Pékin has been inaugurated on January 11, 2018 by the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Mrs. Frédérique Vidal, during the visit of President Emmanuel Macron in the Popular Republic of China.

At Chimie Pékin, the students follow first a 3-year preparatory curriculum, similar to the preparatory classes in France, and then a master curriculum in 3 years, corresponding to a French « école d’ingénieur ». This French-type curriculum will allow the students to both graduate with a master degree of BUCT, and get a French additional master degree. The graduate students will be allowed to use the title of engineer in France. During the master curriculum, the students will choose one of the following major disciplines:

  • Materials Science,
  • Chemical Engineering,
  • Bio-engineering.

This program has a multicultural and an international dimension. The students will be taught scientific courses both in French (about 30% of the courses are in French) and in Chinese, with the possibility to move to France for a short time stay included in the curriculum, or for an internship. It will also be possible to welcome at Chimie Pékin some students from the French FGL network, either for a short-time stay or for a semester. English  is also compulsory in the program.
